About HA CM Research

Introduction

To promote evidence-based Chinese medicine (EBCM), Hospital Authority (HA) advocates clinical research activities being conducted in non-government organizations (NGOs) and local universities. In addition, HA has established a mechanism to commission and review Chinese medicine (CM) research projects, and to provide expert opinion in strategic planning for the single/ multi-centered projects, such as systematic review (SR) and clinical research projects.

Objectives

Establish Chinese Medicine Research Training Team to promote EBCM:

Evidence-based Practice

  • Steering the CM research priorities & commissioning to fill knowledge gap
  • Identifying service niche for the development of clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) to prepare for clinical governance

Promote CM Research &Development in Hong Kong

  • Offering related research training to enhance capacity and interest of CMPs
  • Establishing a knowledge sharing platform (website/ conferences) through liaison with local and oversea Institutions & formation of expert panel for research support and advice

HA Chinese Medicine Central Research Working Group (HACMCRWG)

Objectives:

  • To promote, support & coordinate high quality outcome focused research in CM that meets priority needs of the community

Terms of Reference:

  • To determine the strategic direction and thematic priorities in CM research with agreed criteria
  • To identify partners locally and globally with interest and commitment to CM clinical research
  • To foster research and enhance capability in methodology for efficient and effective conduct of high quality research in CM
  • To support and facilitate CM research in HK making use of the resources & research sites in HA and the CMCTRs
  • To monitor the progress and evaluate the outcome of such programs

  • Representatives from HAHO
  • Representatives from Local Universities
  • Representatives from HA Clusters
  • Representatives from NGOs

Types of Funding Source and Eligibility

Types of Funding Source

  • Research projects funded by HACMD
  • Research projects funded by *CMCTR(s) in tripartite model of collaboration with NGOs and local universities
  • Research projects in *CMCTR(s) without additional funding request

Eligibility

Clinical researchers of any discipline working under HA associated institutes, universities and/ or NGOs. Funding will be awarded to higher education institutions, or other appropriate centres for research by NGO partners or HACMD.
