Central Recruitment of First-year Trainees of Chinese Medicine Practitioner Trainee Programme (2026 Intake)
Background
The Chinese Medicine Department, Hospital Authority coordinates the annual recruitment of first-year trainees of the Chinese Medicine Practitioner Trainee Programme [CMPT(1)s] at Chinese Medicine Clinics cum Training and Research Centres (CMCTRs). This programme provides three years of systematic training covering clinical practice, knowledge-based training, and assessment to enhance clinical competency, aiming to support the development of Chinese Medicine services in Hong Kong.
Programme Information
The programme consists of comprehensive training modules including:
i. Fundamental Training: Pre-service Training* (e.g. Anti-corruption Training, Data Privacy Training, Better Patient Communication, etc.) and Operational Training (e.g. Chinese Medicine Pharmacy Training, Medical Records Writing, etc.)
ii. Clinical Training: Independent Consultation, Supervised Consultation and Clinical Practicum
iii. Knowledge-based Training: Western Medicine/Chinese Medicine themed Training
*CMPT(1)s of 2026 Intake are required to participate in the Pre-service training which will tentatively be held on 20 to 22 October 2026

Training Period
November 2026 to October 2029
Requirements
Fresh graduates of Chinese Medicine or Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioners who have less than one year clinical experience are targeted for the CMPT(1) posts. The requirements are summarised as below:
i. Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner under the Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Ordinance by November 2026;
ii. A degree in Chinese Medicine from a local university or equivalent;
iii. With less than one-year clinical experience as Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner; and
iv. Proficiency in Cantonese, Putonghua and English.
Application Procedures
The submission of application will open from 13 April 2026 (Monday) to 31 May 2026 (Sunday). Please submit the application online on or before 31 May 2026 (Sunday). Late applications will not be considered.
